Nene Leakes?

So Nene Leakes has come out with a clothing line and I actually love what I purchases.  I didn't think I would be uttering these words, I've never really seen as anyone that I would say, "Hey I would purchase your line if you had one." Well, I guess I'll eat my hat today.  A reader actually asked me to review the line.  I heard that she was coming out with a clothing line for HSN (who I secretly want to do a clothing line with one day) and meant to go look at it, but just thought there was not going to be anything for me.  Which is something I tell people all the time, when searching for plus size clothes just go and look you will be surprised.  Whelp! I was surprised. I picked up this jogging suit, which could either go young, hip, and cute, or one of the outfits the Golden Girls would wear. I'm down for either one, but I do understand that if you want it to look hip and cute then you shouldn't pair this with those glittery Keds (I've seen my God Grandmother wear those and while she was fabulous in them I think they are reserved for the the over 70s or under 13 crowd).  I would stick to a heeled or fabulous flat sandal.  I actually wanted another item from the Nene Leakes Collection and didn't order and the darn thing sold out.  I know better. Ugh!

Style Notes:  So for those who don't know, HSN and QVC generally offer most of their items up to a 3X or a size 24. They did plus size before plus size was cool.  Now, for my experience, even though I know they carry different vendors, the sizing is pretty consistent across the board.  I purchased a 3X in the pants and a 2X in the bottom. Everything is true to size, but if you are the cusp of a smaller size I would order down. This is a knit and similar to a jogging pant so know that the items will give. Shamelessly, I've actually worn this a lot this past week. so it can become very loose. I will be traveling this week and I plan for this to be my airport outfit.  You can find my loose wave hair tutorial here (please note that this was done on pre-straightened hair).

Fall Handbags

I'm on the prowl for my fall handbag.  It's close to time to switch out the bright colors and pastels for the deeper, darker, and more fall like colors.  I did some picks from higher end bags for my luxe girls, down to more budget friendly bags for my budget conscious ladies. Regardless of the pricing, all of these are pretty fancy. Personally, I will probably do the Michael Kors tote and a few of the cheaper bags, like the fringe clutch and the black handheld.  That darn tote is so nifty for traveling. You can get all of your stuff in it, carry it on your shoulder, and get to things easily.

Row 1 (Luxe): Michael Kors Travel Tote | Army Green Satchel | Leopard ClutchBR Burgandy Bag

Row 2 (Budget Friendly): Nude Crossbody | Blue QuiltedCrossbody Saddlebag | Taupe Handheld

Celebrity Style Capture: Jill Scott

Some of you asked me about Jill Scott's dress from the cover photo of this month's Essence.  I put in an order to just see how the dress looked and was made, so I could report back.  I also ordered the pink instead of the black.  The biggest thing you should note is the that the panel is sheer.  They photoshopped it and filled it in on Jill.  It is very much sheer.  I also ordered the 3X.  I thought it a tad bit small.  You can find Jill's exact dress here.  The fabric is a shiny stretch fabric.  Personally, I think the dress is cute and great for going out.  I do, however, like this dress more on Jill than on myself.

This is a super brief style capture, but I wanted to get this out for those who were curious.

Womens Size 12 shoes for Fall

I did a roundup of some fancy footwork that goes up to a size 12 for fall.  Some, not all, come in wide widths.  It's also important to note that these are my picks, but the websites that I pulled from have ample shoes in a size 12 and some even in a size 13.  So if you don't see something here, feel free to cruise the websites.  Also, I'm still waiting on more boots to be released for fall so that I can do my wide calf boot roundup for this year.

Dear Target,

For so long I loved you.  I always went above and beyond in our relationship.  I’ll visit you to get a couple of items and more than a couple hundred dollars later and a cart full of products, I have left giving you way more than I ever planned to. No matter how much I give, you never seem to appreciate me.  All I want is the clothing you offer all your other regular sized customers, but you always leave me out.  With that being said, I have to end this relationship.  It’s you, not me and for my own well-being and my self dignity I have to sever ties between us.

This may seem a little dramatic, but the recent release of the photos of Altuzarra for Target collection have me feeling slighted.  I’m up late, working as usual, and I see Refinery 29 post 50 photos of the newest designer collaboration.  Literally 50 pieces of beautiful (and I mean beautiful) affordable clothing and none of it will be remotely close to the size that I wear. The collection consists of deeps hues of burgundy, fabulous snakeskin prints, and fall worthy silk-like maxi dresses…enough to make any fashion lover lust.  My heart sinks.  You has once again made me feel like a second-class customer and because of that I’m going to have to discontinue my relationship with you altogether.

Year after year, season after season, you put out these gorgeous designer collections and you never include a plus range.  Every time each of these collections is about to be released it feels like a slap in the face. To add insult to injury, over 6 months ago, you took most of your plus size clothing out of the store, promising me something new and improved and that has yet to happen.  I’ve been in this abusive relationship with you for far too long.  I can’t do this anymore.  I will be personally boycotting Target altogether.  No more housewares, grocery shopping, electronics...nothing.  I’m done.

You may ask, “Is there any way I will take you back?” I will take you back, when and only when, you include true plus sizes in your designer range collaborations.   Until then, I will take my money elsewhere.

Your Scorned Lover,

Chastity of Garnerstyle-

I'll be in NYC for Fashion Week and I'll be joining fellow bloggers, Allison, Alissa, Meaghan, and Cece for a #curvycloset sale. I know some of you have been wondering when I will do my next closet sale.  Well, instead of doing my usual online closet sale, I've been saving up my clothes to this event in person.   This will be fun.  The event is free to attend and you can RSVP here.  All the details are on the flyer.  You definitely want to plan to get there early.  (Don't say I didn't warn you...LOL).

Plus Size Gingham & Floral Print Outfit
I just celebrated my 3 year marriage anniversary and hubs took me out to a restaurant in Wente Vinyards nestled among acres grape vines, fresh air, and lots of wine.  I decided to go country chic.  I love when I can place a theme on my looks.  As fall gets ready to roll in, I thought this was a nice farewell to bright spring colors.  For fall/winter, I plan to do a lot of black and oxblood.  I never do a lot of black, so I feel like it's time.  In my head, I've wanted to prove that plus size girls can wear color, so I've done nothing, but wear a lot of color and now I just want to slink into more subtle hues.  Surprisingly enough, I don't own a lot of dark colors, so I'll be on the lookout to populate my fall wardrobe.

Style Note:  Some of you may recognize this dress from this post. I actually remixed it by adding this gingham top.  (Thanks to Cece from Plus Size Princess for sending me the gingham top). The top was purchased in-store from TJMaxx. The brand is Jones New York. I'm sorry a lot of the items aren't available.  I was rushing to get ready to dinner and I really just threw something together and since I liked it, I figured I might as well do a post.

Society Shoe Review, Plus Size Jogging Suit
I was excited when Sole Society reached out to me.  I've been a customer of theirs for some time now and I was just eyeing some of the super fab flats and booties they had coming out.  The awesome thing is that they go up to a size 12. (Waits for crowd to cheer! HA!) I will actually order a 12 for the additional width.  I have a wide in-step, so I would suggest ordering up one for those who have a similar situation.  I have the plaid pair of flats and I'm eyeing these Oxford booties next.  They also have a lot of cute shoes in midi heel heights as well, which is another reason I shop there.  If I can find a heel at about 2 1/2 inches, all is right in the world.

Style Notes:  I've kind of been into jogging suits lately.  I've been traveling a lot lately and what seems to be on my mind what I can wear to the airport that will be both cute and comfortable.  Traveling from west to east is an ALL DAY trip and this is something I could be both comfortable and stylish in. This jogging suit is from Mynt. I got a 26 in the bottoms and a 3X in the jacket.  I should have gotten the 2x, but I was scared the arms would be too small.  There is a little stretch in the black side stripe in the pants, but none in the actual fabric itself.  The fabric has a sleek, silky feel.

Blogging tips, plus size blogging tips

I am about to change the format of my site and do a complete renovation.  The changes should be complete around the beginning of September.  I thought this would be a good time to discuss blogging, how to, and some other tidbits. I've been getting a lot of questions from people who are interested in starting a blog, so I've compiled a lot of your questions to hopefully giving answer to you blogging hopefuls.  I'll be as transparent as I can.  You will want to note that these are my experiences.  I can't speak for anyone else.

Here's a quick background:  I've been writing this blog since October 2008.  My first post is here and reflects the date.  I started blogging for a few reasons.  1. I started a styling company in Atlanta and the blog was supposed to be a supportive of my styling site. If you've ever typed in www.garnerstyle.com that's what it leads to. That will be changed soon.  2. I wanted to provide complimentary style help for those in which a stylist wasn't in their budget. 3. I tore my ACL and I was laid up.  I had previously been doing some plus size modeling very early in the what we know as plus size fashion.  I knew that I would not be modeling anymore and still loved the business of plus size fashion, so this was a way to keep my foot in the business. When I first started, I had just completed my Masters of Public Administration and was working in the business of non-profit.  I, in no way, thought of blogging as a business venture or a means of employment.  I loved fashion and this was a way for me to express that love. Now let's get into these questions.

How did I get started?

I kind of answered this above, but in the very simple form you just pick a platform.  A platform is where your blog is hosted or where it lives.  I've been on Blogger since I started, but I'm finally (reluctantly) switching to Wordpress.  These are the two main ones. There are others, but for the most part people choose to be on one or the other.  The advantage to Blogger is that it's super simple to use.  I've use Wordpress when I'm writing for other platforms and it's kind of a pain to use, but I do wish I would have started there first. Wordpress allows for more customization and better SEO (search engine optimization - I'm linking this word, because it's taken me a long time to use it or even understand it).

Things that I think I've done right:

I valued myself early - I didn't know I would be a full time blogger, but I also understood a few things early.  1. Brands don't reach out to you unless there is something that you have is valuable. This generally means influence.  When they reach out they generally want some type of advertisement. Advertisement, in my opinion, deserves compensation. Compensation doesn't always mean money, but mama can't pay the rent with free clothes.  HA!  2.  Accepting freebies I felt would obligate me to that brand, especially in the beginning. I opted to buy most of my own clothing for the most part.  In the first 3 - 4  years, 90% of my wardrobe was purchased by me.

I'm friendly - I'm from the south, so of course I'm going to speak and talk to anyone that approaches me.  Whatever perception of what people have of you from being online can be broken down just by having a friendly conversation.  This also feeds into my social media.  I'm pretty interactive with readers online.  I think it's important support the people that support me.  I may be a hermit, but I'm not an ogre.

Focus on my strength, work on the things I'm not so good at - Personal style is my strength. I recognize it and embrace it.  I try to do that to the best of my ability and I know it translates.  I think that will always be my blog's draw. Things that I am not so good at are writing.  I never set out to be one, but here I am.  I really loathed social media in the beginning, but over time I've gotten really good at it.  It was definitely not without a lot of practice.  Note that blogs are always a work in progress. I'm still learning things.

Niche Blogging - Plus size fashion is a niche and I can't deny that I a lot of my own personal success is because I'm in the niche of plus size fashion.  There has to be 1000s of fashion bloggers, but only maybe 100 or so plus size fashion blogs.  See how that helps. I'm sure one day our niche will become over-saturated, but not today. LOL.

I'm Passionate - This may be the most important element. I always say if I won the lottery tomorrow, I would still write this blog.  I love what I do and the fact that I can help people just by getting dressed.

Things I wish I would have done earlier

Invest in a good camera - If you are a blogger that relies on photos, photo quality is extremely important.

Build relationships -   In my real life, I'm kind of a hermit.  I'm a person can count their friends on one hand.  I'm friendly in settings, but I'm kind of always on guard (I'm working on that - don't judge me). While making friends with everyone isn't necessary, having good relationships with people is.  You never know how you may to help the next person out or how they might be able to help you.

Know what you want - I wish I would have known this would be a business for me in the beginning. I would have treated it differently. Knowing what you want out of blogging early is the best advantage you can give yourself.

Being Authentic

This is something you can't quantify and I've heard it talked about a lot, but this is something that is extremely important to me.  If you ever got to know me, you would know that I am true to Chastity, first and foremost.  I write my blog just like that.  Qualities that I possess are honesty (which gets me into trouble sometimes), lightheartedness, creativity, and realism.  People can connect with you on different levels, it may be through photos, your writing, or through actual interaction, but it's who you are that makes you different from everyone else.  I find inspiration from other blogs in a technically way, but my content and style are my own.

Complimentary Clothing - In being true to myself and being authentic, I still purchase around 75% of my clothing.  It's still so very important that my style from my brain and not manufactured.

The Money Question

Well, I will say that I didn't get my first big check until 2011.  I went full-time late 2012. I was living in Dallas and let's just say full time blogging income means something totally different in California, but that only encouraged me to work harder and that allowed me to make leaps and bounds in my own business.

Patience - First off, when I started blogging I didn't know income was even an option. I blogged about fashion because I love it, but the road to gaining a sustainable income can be long.

Traffic/Numbers - Think of your blogging website like a tv channel.  The more viewers you have the more you can make from advertising.  Social Media is a big part of it and I have treated social media just like it's apart of my blog.

Know your worth - This is something I like to have open conversation about.  Because I make my living as a blogger I'm a huge advocate for bloggers being paid what they are worth.  Don't know your worth?  Reach out to me in private.  I don't think money should be discussed on large forums, but if you have a questions about pricing I'm more than willing to help you with what I know and give suggestions.  Keep in mind that payment isn't always monetary. If it is some sort of exchange make sure you feel that you are still being compensated fairly.  Ask yourself, how is this mutually beneficial?

Diversify - I do a lot of different things to build my monthly income.  I contribute to other sites, consult, and style. On the back end, I use affiliate links (which is stated on my blog here), ads, and develop sponsored content.  I used of the theory of "death by a thousand cuts," I reversed it and used it in a profitable way to build my own business.

The Quiet Jobs - I've always thought of myself as a quiet riot.  I don't talk about everything that I am blessed with doing, not because I'm not appreciative, but just because it's not in my nature. With that being said, I was able to sustain myself early on by taking jobs that weren't accompanied with glamour.  I took a lot of writing  and internet styling jobs that I never promoted or talked about.  They weren't the ones that everyone was talking about, but for me blogging had become a business and the notoriety wasn't my objective.  Building a business that I both loved and supported that could support me back was my objective.

How do you get approached by brands? If the traffic is there, they will come.  LOL.    I've never been good at reaching out to brands, but I've been fortunate enough to where they reach out to me.  In the beginning, you definitely focus on building stellar content.  For me, I started getting brands contacting me around 30k/month views.

Things To Consider

Internet Fame - Let's just say this, internet fame (even on the small level that bloggers have) is not for the faint of heart.  I will say that I have a large audience, but this year I had a lot of growth and with that growth came a lot of negativity.  There is a thin line between criticism and just being plain rude. Now, when I started this I had no idea I would get to this particular place, but at this point I have to accept with the good with the bad.  I love what I do and wouldn't change it.  You definitely need to know yourself and really evaluate if you can handle an abundance of people's opinions of you.  It won't always be good.  On the flip side, I think the plus size community has some of the more positive and supportive commentary.  I rarely see people cursing, attacking other people, and such. Not to say it doesn't happen, but be aware that you are putting yourself out there for the world to like...or not like.  You also want to know what you are/aren't going to deal with.  For me, you are not going to curse at me or each other/insult me/others and still be allowed to comment freely on my channels.

Monetary Investment - I spend money left and right on this blog. I pay for a photographer, technical equipment (computers, cameras, phones, tablets, backup cameras, clothing, travel, beauty, etc). It's an investment, so you really want to know is this a business venture or is this a hobby before you start shelling out cash.

Everybody doesn't go full time - This is just the hard truth.  Everyone that does this isn't able to go full time.   In the same breath, going full time doesn't have to be your goal.  Set your goals according to how you feel and not what you think everyone else is doing.    I learned a long time ago not to compare myself to other people in blogging and just in life in general.  I just work lane Chastity and for me, lane Chastity has been pretty awesome.

I've had a few people reach out to me to be their mentor.  Let's just say I'm blessed to be crazy busy and as I may not be able to commit to one on one time, I am able to mentor through just answering a question or two through email or message. I think a lot of you know me to be pretty responsive, but make sure you do your research first.  I think people are so much more willing to help someone who has done their legwork and then come up with questions that are specific to that person and can't be answered through a simple google search.  I hope this helps you in your blogging or potential blogging journey.

Flattery Will Get You No Where

Plus Size Oversized Dress, Plus size black dress
I was reading a post from Stylish Curves that posed the question, "Should plus size women always dress for their body type? Do we always have to dress for our curves?" This is something that I've been thinking about for some time.  First up, I know how to flatter my body. I have post after post of synched waists, body skimming dresses, and fit and flare styles.  I even know what works for other bodies, but with flattery comes a box that can zap the fun out of fashion. Flattery can prevent you from wearing something really adventurous.  Take this dress.  I saw this dress and immediately thought, the runway oversized looks that have been blazing the runway.  I bought this dress in the largest size they had just so it wouldn't skim my waist. (It still skims my hips. Ugh!) This is the first purchase in a few months that I was extremely excited to wear.  To me, this isn't the most flattering look, but it says fashion. Don't get me wrong, knowing the rules are a awesome starting point, especially for people trying to understand how to dress their bodies, but don't be afraid to try new things that you just like. The thing I loathe the most is when I read someone say, everything is meant for everybody. It drives me nuts, because yes if you can pay for something then it's meant for you.  Plus size women are allowed to go outside of the flattery box and you can wear exactly what you want to wear.  In the words of Beyonce, "I'm a grown woman, I can do whatever I want" and you can too.

Style Notes:  Let me just say that I love this dress. This is a shoot I did for fall inspiration and it's just so chic to me.  This is from Lane Bryant and I purchased this in a 26/28. I wanted the top portion to be big.  To me, it's looks a bit different on the model.  I actually purchased this in-store. Had I had seen it online, I would have never gotten it.

Cute Midi Heels, Plus size leopard skirt
When I come to New York there's always a fight to find shoes and clothing that are both comfortable and cute.  This is a rough city.  You could literally be out all day moving and shaking. At Fashion Week, there's a lot of pressure to have on the most fabulous clothing and the sky high heels.  Keeping it 100% real, I just can't do it. If my feet hurt. I can't concentrate. In the words of Fleetwood Mac, sometimes you have to go your own way.  I got these shoes from Sole Society (in the color crimson), because I can do the block heel. These shoes gave me a little height and I knew I would be able to stand up for my 5 hour event in them.  As mentioned before, I am a size 11, but I sized up one to accommodate my foot width.  So these are a 12.  I spent about 8 hours in these shoes on a hard floor and they faired pretty well.  I wish I would have added a gel sole to the shoes.  Those can give your shoes a few more hours of comfort.  You will want to note that this shoe comes in multiple colors, but all of the colors don't go up to a size 12, so check each color to see which ones do.

Style Notes:  I purchased this skirt and top from Ashley Stewart. This skirt has no stretch, so keep that in mind.  I purchased a size 24 in the skirt.  It was a pretty awesome fit and is a favorite purchase of mine this season, so far.  The top I have on is a bodysuit and the dip is pretty crucial.  The bodysuit portion helps pull it in place, but know that this is taped in place with double sided tape. I, personally, like this toupee tape. That tape doesn't move.  I liked the low neckline so I taped the bottom, then taped the top to my bra.  I know some of you may wondering what type of bra do you wear with something like this.  I have on a deep plunge from Lane Bryant, find it here. I thought that maybe I was going to have to go braless and tape my boobs down, but this bra worked like a gem.  The girls were in place ALL DAY!

plus size boyfriend jeans, plus size casual look
I know some of you may be asking, "Where are all your fashion week posts?" Can you believe the whole time I was in NY I didn't go to one show.  Why? Pure exhaustion from everything else.  Being in NY was just a huge work week for me more than anything and when I got a moment to myself, I just opted for a nap instead of a fashion show.    I know I'm lame, but running to meetings all over time just had me beat.  I'm hoping to announce some exciting news soon, so missing the more fun parts of fashion week is worth it.
Style Notes:  I'm trying my hand at wearing heels every now and again.  These are actually pretty comfortable and the heel is sturdy.  I have terrible balance, so that's important.  I like to stumble, trip, and possibly fall. LOL.  Some of you asked my size in thisdenim.  These are a 26.  I like the cut, it's more of a relaxed boyfriend fit.  Find the links to everything below.

Fall Transition

Plus Size Twosies, plus size moto jacket
It's been a while since I've done the one look three ways.  With the transition of fall coming in and the new collections finally coming out, I'm finally feeling inspired again.  My husband always runs behind me saying, "What's my motivation" in this best thespian dramatic voice, as he mimics my creativity blocks.  We definitely like to have fun with each other, but it can be frustrating to have blocks in your own style creativity.  I guess I can thank Rebdolls (formally Custom-Plus) for helping me come out of my funk.  This two-piece set is gorgeous and the length of the skirt is to die for.  Do you know how hard it is to get a true midi? In my humble opinion, a true midi comes past the knees and covers the upper calf.

Style Notes:  You will need to wear some sort of undergarment with this skirt.  It's has a sheerness to it.  I put a mid thigh shaper in black underneath this skirt.  I thought about doing nude, but I thought the black would be best since there is black in the skirt. I ordered a 3X in the set. I did order this on backorder from Rebdolls. I was traveling, but I think it took 2 weeks to get to me.  The gray top was ordered from Babooshka Etsy Shop.  This is a straight size designer that does a lot of oversized pieces.  I ordered the XL in this top.  It's split on each side.  The jersey is a nice weight, stretchy and isn't sheer.  The neon blazer (that's says it's sold out) is from New Look via Asos.  It's not the normal oversized Asos Sizing.  It ran small, in my opinion.  I got a 20, but I feel like I needed a 22. Just not that for any New Look items. Last, but not least, the piece de resistance, the 6th & Lane moto jacket is totally gag worthy.  It's sickening for no good reason.  The fit is great and true to size. I got an 18 in it and it fits perfectly. The leather smells like heaven, the collar, zipper detail, and overall quality is just gorgeous. I featured this on my moto jacket picks a couple of weeks ago and I must say this trumps.  I know this carries a hefty price tag, but I would be sure use some sort of coupon, be it real women dollars, buy one get one free (go in it with a friend LOL), or any of the regular gift cheques. This is definitely a piece that you want to have in your closet this fall.  It's just too beautiful and something that you can wear for the next 10 years.

My Wide Calf Boot Picks

I waited a little bit to make my wide calf boot selections.  I wanted to give the brands a chance to populate their stock before I made my selections.  You'll want to note that the Duo Boots, although the priciest of the bunch will allow you to pick the width of your boots.  I was personally impressed with their selection and I may just go ahead and splurge on a pair.  Some of you have asked about thigh high boots.  Per my knowledge, I haven't seen any offered in plus.  Years ago, Torrid had a pair.  Maybe they will offer them again.

I did a video below that shows you how to measure your calves a couple little tidbits on finding a great fitting boot.  I also wanted to shout out Boot Bands. They allow you to turn regular boots into wide calf boots or make your wide calf boots wider.  Find them here

Hi All,

So some of you may have noticed that my Facebook fan page has been hacked. I'm super upset, but I'm trying to hold it together while I try to get it back. I've reported this to Facebook, but it also helps if outside parties report it as well.

If you have a moment, please take second and report this page as being hacked and the property of Chastity Valentine (My married & Facebook name).  It is said that helps to get a faster response.

The actual page is at www.facebook.com/garnerstyle12. I thank you for your continued support.  Now here's hoping that I don't have to ride up to Facebook. LOL.

Best,

Santa Cruz Travel, Plus Size Polka Dot Dress
Hubs and I took a much needed mini vacation down to the Santa Cruz area of the bay.    We rented a cute little beach house for the night, ate some fresh seafood, and just relaxed.  It felt fantastic to unplug and think about absolutely nothing.  It's been a while since I've gotten to really decompress and I almost forgot what it was like to not check my phone every 5 minutes.  I've always thought of myself having a balance with technology and social media.  I'm 33 and so I'm young enough to where social media comes very easy and almost naturally to me, but I am old enough to remember what it's like without social media.  Since it has become apart of my job, I fear that it's taken over my life a little bit.  I have to do better.

Anyways, we had an awesome time.  We ended up in Aptos, Ca, which is about 10 miles from Santa Cruz. It's a cute little beach town hub.  It's a little less tourist-y and less crowded.  Shug got to get all of her life in the sand, but wanted no part of the beach water.  She ate quite a bit of the sand, as well.  Poor Shug. We dined at Cafe Rio for lunch and dinner, which was within walking distance of our accommodations. Their happy hour is magnificent.

Style Notes: This polka dot dress was the perfect beach getaway dress. I got it in a 2x. I'm generally a 16/18 on top.  This runs true to size.  You will want to get this to fit the upper portion of your body. It has slight stretch in, but not much.  Also, I know people had concerned about the Keds being too narrow. I found them to be fine and pretty comfortable, but note that they are white and you will have to toss in the washer frequently.

6th and Lane, Plus Size Black Pencil Skirt
Today I was channeling the Robert Palmer girls with my all black, heavy eyebrows, and combed back hair. I know I have been embracing the all black trend lately.  I think as a plus size women, I fought against black for so long, because it seemed to always be pushed upon plus size women so they can look "slim." It was to the point where I didn't have simple black staple pieces.  I think I've proven that I can wear color as a plus size woman, so now I'm finally embracing black. Hopefully, y'all don't get too tired of seeing me in it.

Style Notes:  This pencil skirt is a ponte knit with a nice amount of stretch. In my opinion, this is makes for an awesome work staple that you could easily wear at night.  I got a size 24 in the skirt.  It fit nicely. I will have to get the waist taken in. You may can avoid having to go to the tailor for large waist/hip ratios by ordering down a size.

The Garnerstyle Facebook Page reached 200K in facebook likes and I wanted to do a giveaway just to thank you guys for your awesome support.  The great folks at Torrid sponsored (5) $100 gift cards to give away to five lucky readers.  I figured I'd give you a little inspiration on what to do with that gift card, as well.  Really get a bang for your buck with wearing one jumpsuit three ways. Please enter in the Rafflecopter widget below and remember to check back to see if you are a winner. It's amazing how many people I have to hunt down to claim their prize. LOL. I always email the winner, but sometimes it's hard to track y'all down.  There are multiple ways to enter, so hopefully no one gets excluded.  International people can enter too.  Rules and regulations are the the widget.

Style Notes: I got the jumpsuit in a 3X.  I'm a 16/18 on top and a 26 on bottom. With that being said, when I purchase a jumpsuit with stretch I usually pick the size that is in the middle of my top and bottom size. For me, this would be a 3X.  This was purchased in store. There were a lot of sizes in this available for those looking.
